Does This Look Like a Reaction or Irritation to Diaper?

My son has very sensitive skin so his pediatrician recommended hypoallergenic diapers/natural diapers. 
I found a box of Luvs (which are neither) and I’m wondering if this looks like an irritation from the diapers? 
My MIL said she put Aquaphor on it and it seemed to help. 🤷🏻‍♀️ They almost remind me of pimples.

To me this looks like a friction rash... we all have eczema here so I understand the game well lol 
Aquaphor baby helps greatly but keep applying until it has healed. Also try and make sure his diapers are changed more often to draw urine away since it will irritate it worse. Make sure the diapers are snug and can’t wriggle too much since it will create more friction. For smaller areas I usually apply a bit of hydrocortisone to a bandaid and stick it to the area that way no more rubbing happens. 
Could his diaper have been too loose? Also rubbing on the highly fragranced Luvs could have caused it too. Sorry! I hope it gets better!

It could be yeast if there was extra moisture and his skin was already irritated. Did he have a fever at all?

Definitely a contact rash from something. Just keep an eye on it and see the ped if it worsens
