Should we tell the police?

Our neighbor walked up to us today while we were outside and told us that a couple of weeks ago, a man was lurking around our house at 5am and shining flashlights through our upstairs windows. We don’t know why he waited so long to tell us this. He said that he pulled around in our driveway and the man ran off. The man was on foot, not in a car. Does this sound like they were casing our house to rob it? Any suggestions on why the man was doing this? Should we tell the police? Also, our upstairs windows are really high up from the ground, you can’t see in them even with a flashlight. And we have a longish gravel driveway so he was in our driveway looking up at our house. We also do not live in an expensive neighborhood or anything.
