Is my boyfriend being reasonable?

My boyfriend of 7 years and I started watching a lot of prison documentaries/shows together on TV & Netflix. I’m a psychology major and I told him today that I am interested in working in the prison setting as a forensic psychologist and that I think it’s my dream job. My boyfriend freaked out and said absolutely not, he will not allow me to work in a prison. He said it’s dangerous and I will get flirted with by the prisoners and possibly sexually assaulted. He said he watched videos about what happens to female employees and they get taken advantage of by inmates and he will not let me work in a prison. He was very adamant about this and panicking saying he wants to keep me safe and innocent. He even said if I got a job in a prison, he will contact my boss and tell them I’m not mentally/physically capable of doing the job. Is my boyfriend being reasonable?

It’s reasonable he has concerns but it is NOT reasonable that he forbid you from working your dream job and threatened to get you fired if you achieved your dream. He sees you as a possession before he sees you as a person with a dream that could make you happy.

So, it’s reasonable that is concerned about this potential situation for the reasons he’s listed. 
IT IS UNACCEPTABLE AND BULLSHIT that he’s threatening to call a boss you don’t have to make up lies that will professionally affect you (for ever?) and thinks you “innocence” is that important to him among other thing.

Maybe look into it before fully jumping in. I get he’s concerned but he’s doing to much. Yes working in prisons can be dangerous which is the risk you take working there. 
You should always research what your getting into with any job. 
As for the boyfriend he’s not realistic because he can’t tell your boss your mentally unstable in hopes they fire you. If you decide to stay with him maybe discuss why you want to work in a prison. If he still doesn’t change then break up.

If he was a loving boyfriend, it would be understandable that he worries but he should of never told you all that in that manner. He should be mature and at least jokingly say “we will see.” Because it’s not like you’ll get that job TOMORROW. True love wouldn’t make you feel like that. He is childish and immature and I guarantee you he would leave you if you said something like that to him.
