Putting weight on while breastfeeding?

Question

I thought I was meant to be burning lots of calories whilst breastfeeding?! 
I'm not even eating that many more calories and exclusively bf.
I guess I'm sitting around a lot more than before. Please reassure me that it just falls off afger lol 😆

I think a lot of people mistake this to be true or use it as an excuse to eat a lot of junk. Yes, you need extra calories to produce milk but really not that many and they should be in forms that your body can actually utilize, healthy foods. And also you do need to stay active. I lost everything but 5 lbs in less than a month after giving birth. I'm still anywhere between 3-5 lbs heavier than before pregnancy 14 months later (still breastfeeding) but I'm perfectly happy with that.

I’ve lost all my baby weight plus some but I’m working out and not eating any extra calories so I don’t think breastfeeding affected my weight loss. I’m weaning my son currently so breastfeeding much less (only two times a day) and haven’t put weight back on, hopefully it stays that way lol. I def would not bank on the weight just falling off lol. I think a lot women def take advantage/abuse needing extra calories while breastfeeding which is why they gain so much once there done

I gained weight after my lasted baby. I wasn’t breastfeeding but I found out I had a thyroid problem that was triggered by the pregnancy. Maybe check in with your PCP and have some labs done.  This didn’t happen with my first two pregnancies so I knew something was up

I stayed the same with my first throughout breastfeeding. I lost weight initially with my second but gained it back and then some 😩 I’m hoping once I stop breastfeeding I can lose the weight

I lost most of my weight in the first year just by watching what I ate. But I held onto the last 10 lbs till my son fully weaned at 2 years old.

I believe you should eat more than normal to be burning that many calories
I find I maintain weight better eating more while BF. 
I also produce more milk if I eat a lot more.
