What age should you start seeing a gyno?

I’m turning 18 soon, not sexually active, not having any problems. I’m just curious when it’s normal to start seeing one. My moms always said 21, but I see people on here saying you should get one when your as young as 15?

If you’re not sexually actively, I’d say 21. That’s what my doc recommended but you can always give yours a call and ask!

I think the standard age might vary based on your region. When I grew up in Pennsylvania, they recommended girls who weren't sexually active already have an exam at 18 to establish a baseline.

I went at 18 once my pediatrician stopped seeing me. Once I moved on to an adult doctor I also scheduled an appointment with a gyno. I was sexually active before that but my pediatrician said 18 was fine. My best friend started seeing one at 16 per her mother's suggestion

You should get checked regardless of whether you’re active or not. I once almost canceled my appointment because I thought I had “no need”, and we found out I hd a cervical polyp 😐. Nothing serious but it’s best to have peace of mind that everything is healthy and untroubled down there 💓

I started going when I was 15 and wasnt sexually active until I was 17. Really I wasnt seeing a gyno but I was having pelvic exams once a year with my primary doctor and going to see her when things were off and I thought I had an infection. It really did help me when I ended up having a yeast infection a few times.

I went when I was around 16, I had very strong and irregular periods to the point I was unable to go to school. I was then prescribed a birth control to help. 
I’ve always had a female doctor as well since it made me feel more comfortable.

The age for Pap smears used to be 18, unfortunately they raised it to 21. So unless you’re going in for birth control or because you think there may be a problem, they can’t do the usual checkup until you’re 21.
