“We know wearing a mask during labor can be difficult” ... understatement? Has anyone actually done this?

I’m refusing to wear a mask. By the time August rolls around everyone who wants the vaccine should have gotten it, so why do I have to wear a mask. Plus we just got rid of our state mandate .

I 100% refuse to wear one. I’m having twins and we planned a c section already. Not only did I already have Covid in January (no worse than any other mild flu I’ve ever had), but I have severe anxiety and wearing a mask during that will cause a panic attack. I am so incredibly sick of mandates with such a lack of evidence. My husband has not been able to come to ONE ultrasound to see his babies, even though he also had Covid at the same time as me. I’m done being compliant.

One of my cousins who gave birth told me to ask for an oxygen mask. Like pretend you’re having trouble breathing. So they put an oxygen mask on you instead

I plan on going unmedicated so if this is the case and my pregnancy is uncomplicated then I will ask the nurses to put the monitor on and leave the room until i call them that I’m ready to push.

Yep, I was pushing with my son and I was still wearing a mask. Luckily, I begged my doctor if I could take it off halfway into it and she said I could. Idk if others will be as considerate.

My SIL laboured and delivered in a mask. She said she hardly noticed. Idk though, I'm not too keen on the idea myself....  I feel like if everyone else is masked and I have a negative test it shouldn't matter...

I’m not quite sure what the hospital I’m deliver at requires.  But cases have been super low in our county for over a month I’m hoping by august things get a little more lax.  The only info I know is that in the last month they changed their rules to now we can have 2 people in delivery room and once in recovery we can have visitors as long as they are over 18, but they didn’t give restriction on how many.
That being said with my first two births I wore an oxygen mask thru the delivery process so I’m anticipating that again. With both of them as soon as I was 9/10 cm and it was close to push time they immediately put it on me so 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’m more worried about my husband he hates wearing masks and he’s very loud and confrontational so I don’t want him to get kicked out

My friend had to wear a mask her entire labor in August. I really don’t want to and I’m not as nervous about having it off Since I’m fully vaccinated.

When my sister was in active labor, she didn’t have to wear the mask to push. But before that she did. Doctor and nurses did too. But I don’t know if it’s the same everywhere.

I’m really nervous about this. I will not do well if I’m having to do all that in a mask. I’m hoping cases are much lower by the end of august and I’m also hoping that because my husband and I are fully vaccinated that they give us some leeway.
