I gasp softly, looking over to Spencer with wide eyes for a split second before springing into action.

“One second!” I call to him, stumbling off the bed and nearly breaking my leg as I pull my shorts back up. Spencer, surprise surprise just smirks as he watches me lose my mind.

“Get up!” I whisper/yell, pulling him up off the bed by his arms as he lets out a quiet giggle. “Get in the closet!”

“Harley Willow Smith, I will not hide in your closet like we’re in middle school!” He scolds and I groan.

“Baby?! You okay?” Mica calls again.

“I’m okay, babe! Two more seconds!” I yell back before turning to Spencer. “Please Spence. He can’t know, not right now.” I plead and some string in that smug heart of his must’ve been tugged because he sighs before walking into the closet and shutting the door. I breathe a sigh of relief, fixing my hair and making sure I don’t look like I just had a mind blowing orgasm courtesy of my brother’s best friend before opening the door.

“Hi baby.” he smiles, walking inside and giving me a slow kiss that leaves my toes curling for the first time in months.

“Hey babe.” I whisper, shutting the door and taking a quick peek at the closet to make sure Spencer isn't visible.

“What were you doing that I needed to wait outside? And why was the door locked? Your door isn’t usually locked around this time.” He observes and I curse him in my head for being attentive to everything but my sexual and emotional needs.

“Uh, I had just gotten out of the shower. Didn’t want those creepy frat boys waltzing in.” I lie, patting myself on the back for the completely believable lie I just told. He gives me a skeptical look but nods, taking a seat on my bed and pulling off his shoes before he lays down.

“Frat boys like Spencer?” He asks and my whole body freezes.

“What?”

“Spencer. Josh’s best friend.”

No shit, asshole.

“Yeah, I know who he is but he’s not a frat boy.”

“Not officially, but he acts like one.”

Excuse me?

“No he doesn’t, you have no clue what you’re talking about.”

“Harley, chill. Why are you getting so worked up about him?”

“Because he’s my brother’s best friend. You don’t even know him.”

“I know of him.”

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

“Come on, Har. You’re seriously telling me you don’t hear what everyone says about him?”

“Yeah, I do but I know him and he’s not like that. Don’t say shit like that to me about people my family’s close with.”

“Damn, I’m sorry alright? I made an unfair judgement, my apologies.” He scoffs and I can tell he doesn’t mean it but I don’t have the energy to push it any further.

“Come on babe, I haven’t seen you in weeks.”

Who’s fault is that?

“I miss you.” he pouts and I roll my eyes playfully at him, a small smile making its way to my face as he holds out his arms.

There’s the Mica I’ve been trying to prove exists.

I giggle softly before climbing into his arms and burying my face in his neck as he wraps his arms around my lower body and kisses my cheek.

“I missed you.” I whisper and he smiles into my hair.

“I missed you too, I’m sorry I’ve been so busy. You don’t deserve it, but I’m done with exams for two weeks and I’m gonna spoil you rotten.” He smiles and I lift my head from his neck.

“Is that so?” I smile, pushing some of his floppy hair back from his face.

“It is. I’ve saved up a lot of money from working down at the plaza and I wanna take you on all the dates I’ve been missing out on.”

“But I thought you only worked two days a week because of exams? And they don’t pay a lot per hour.” I question and he shrugs.

“I picked up a few extra shifts here and there. Got there right when they opened and was the last one to close.” he admits and my heart nearly bursts.

“So you were gone for so long because-”

“Because I was working extra shifts so I could take you on proper dates, yes.” he finishes and I can feel tears brimming my eyes.

“You must be so tired.” I whisper and he nods, yawning.

“You’re worth it though.” He smiles and my heart breaks as he presses his lips to mine.

“Do you wanna sleep here tonight?” I ask and he nods, laying down on my pillow and it’s only then do I notice Spencer’s t-shirt. My eyes widen and I wait until his eyes start to close to grab it and climb off his lap.

“Where are you going?” He groans and I smile.

“I’m just going to turn off the lights, I’ll be there in a sec.” I tell him and he nods, yawning again before turning over and pulling the covers up over his body. I wait until he starts snoring to creep to my closet, opening the door as quietly as I can. Spencer looks me up and down with a sad look as I hand him his shirt.

“Harley-” He whispers and I shake my head.

“Never again, Spence.” I whisper, looking over to the sleeping boy in my bed.

“I’m sorry.” He whispers as he walks to my door and I nod.

“Me too.”
