What are my odds of having twins?

I just found out that my maternal great grandmother had twins (they died, but she was pregnant with them). Neither my grandmother or mom had twins. My husbands side of the family has no twins. I will also be taking Letrozole next month for the first time. What are our odds of having twins if we conceive?

We’re your grandmothers twins identical or fraternal? Even if there was twins on your husbands side it wouldn’t impact the odds of you conceiving twins as it’s due to hyper ovulation and needs to be on the moms side.

Twins on the husband's side does not matter. You're the one with the eggs that determine that. 
The dr should go over the risk of twins with you. It is low on that medication but still possible.

Only dichorionic twins (mistakenly called fraternal by many) run in families.

Hard to say really but I wouldn’t be expecting it - the chances of twins in the general population are pretty low. If you hyperovulate (some women do and there’s often a family history of it), your chances increase a little. There are higher than usual chances of twins when taking letrozole, but I think it’s like 5%. 
I actually had a similar situation to you - my great-grandmother had fraternal twins, and I took letrozole and had fraternal twins. But no one else in my family has had them in 80 years (siblings, cousins etc) so I guess I was just lucky!

Well my boy is a twin his mom is a twin and in my family there a 9 sets of twins and I’m hoping that if I get my BFP it will be twins baby dust to us all

My granny had a identical twin. She had fraternal twins. And my aunts were the last of that lol since then she has had 8 grandkids and 18 great grandkids.. non are twins
