Bleeding with progesterone in oil shot?

So, this morning was my 4th PIO shot. 1st 3 - hardly any blood, but I guess this time we hit a blood vessel b/c there was a small trickle of blood when the needle was removed. Just wondering what ppls experience has been with hitting blood vessels. I know some instructions say to pull back on the plunger after inserting the needle and look for blood to make sure you haven’t hit a blood vessel. This is so disgusting, the idea makes me wanna vomit. Plus, if you have hit a blood vessel you have to take it out, put on a new needle and start the horror all over again. There’s no way I can do that. And my husband can’t either. Is it ok to just let it bleed a little?  I used lidocaine cream, so it didn’t hurt too terribly much.

I had bleeding sometimes with PIO as well so I always had a square piece of gauze ready to press down as soon as my husband pulled the needle out. Sometimes if it was more than a drop I’d put a bandaid over it and call it a day. I think the baby aspirin made the bleeding worse as well. I never had any issues with my progesterone levels so it is what it is. Some days there’s no bleeding, some days it’s messy, and sometimes it hurts while other times I could barely feel it.

I’ve been doing these shots for a month now and 50% of the time there is blood. We just keep going! I really don’t think it effects anything since the needle still goes straight to the muscle. If I had to redo it every time it would be a nightmare.

Blood is normal sometimes. You can keep going with the injection. I would pull back in the plunger to make sure there is no blood, but it is rare. The PIO is always a crap shoot, sometimes you hardly feel it, but sometimes it hurts. Sometimes it bleed and other it doesn't.

My husband always pulled back on the plunger before pushing in the PIO. Only 2 times ever did we have to redo it. One was the very first time and the other was close to finishing PIO. As far as bleeders, we had a few that didn’t show blood in the plunger during the check, but when we pulled it out, it literally gushed out. So fast that I almost couldn’t catch the blood before it went down my leg 🤣 Sometimes I bled a lot and sometimes I never bled. The way the injection felt had zero to do with that, too.
