Gotta savor the wins.

I am a black woman from the south. I am the wife to an Arab Muslim man. And ai can't begin to explain the joy and relief I feel at the chauvin trial verdict. My windows are open and my neighbors in our mostly ethnic are dancing and singing and crying and releasing a breath we have all been holding and the sound coming through my window is both amazing and heartbreaking. Yes he will appeal and who knows what his sentence will be but for now I am gonna celebrate my beautiful black ass off knowing that maybe just maybe this is a step in the right direction. That dirty cops will know they are not immune anymore and that this can be the first stone in the path of rebuilding and reforming our current policing system. Yes it is 1 victory in a week of having police issues blasted left and right on us but to me and all the people I know who have had awful cops do unethical or illegal things and get away 100% free this is a small victory and I will savory it. We have a long way to go but it has to start somewhere.
