How to handle a toddler tantrum

My son is 1 1/2 and his tantrums are awful he hits and slaps and bites and screams if he doesn’t like certain things sometimes for no reason . Will sometimes pop me for no reason he will even keep going when I tell him no. He knows what no means But sometimes he just ignores it sometimes not ..or fall out on the floor if his food is gone or is taking too long to be ready . I don’t know the best way to respond to get him out of it and I want to correct it before he gets any older. Best way to handle this ladies ?
