Is it okay to be racist and/or sexist with regard to doctors?

Cathy

I hope this does not violate the race/gender rule, and I do not believe it does because I am not debating the features/perceived features or qualities of a race or gender, but here it goes...

Do you consider it morally acceptable to be racist or sexist with regard to your medical providers? Let me explain...All of my doctors are women. This includes my gp, surgeon, RE, OBGYN, dermatologist, dentist, everybody. I would not go to a male doctor unless it was a last resort. I am just more comfortable with my body around females. This is totally sexist, and I realize that it is. I mean, I would definitely be a little miffed if somebody said they only trusted male doctors. The same goes for race, many people of color prefer doctors of color because they are taken more seriously, BUT it would be terrible in reverse, for a white person to say they prefer white doctors. I realize the disparity here and was just curious your thoughts on the morality/acceptability of choosing doctors from only the same sex or race because it increases your comfort level and makes you feel more understood/empathized with.
