Period and breastfeeding

Hello mamas, i am 6 weeks pp and exclusively breastfeeding. I heard that periods don’t come usually if you’re breastfeeding. How can i know if I’m pregnant or not without my period? Should i take a test every month or what?

Because I don’t use any birth control, I don’t like the pills. My husband and i use the pull out method and it was fine with us, we got pregnant by choice not an accident.

So can anyone tell me about the breastfeeding and menstruation if it ever comes back?
