Anyone else’s baby not interested in solids?

Question

Tried solids last Sunday for the first time. We’re doing purees and I first did sweet potato. The first day he did pretty well and ate a good amount then after that he didn’t want it anymore so I just assumed maybe he didn’t like sweet potato. 
So these past few days we’ve been trying banana and still he has no interest. He turns his head away and even start gagging. I’ve fed him at different times of the day as well. Idk what it could be...

Just keep trying diff things.  My little lady doesn’t like bananas or apples.  She loves butternut squash, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots!!! All the root veggies. Lol
She will be 7 months in a few days.

I’ve been experimenting with both food play (aka baby led weaning) and spoon feeding for my 6.5mo daughter. 
Puréed food goes down ok, mashed food gets stuck to her palate and causes dramatic gagging, and solid food mostly gets smooshed in hands and wiped all over the clothes.
At most a tablespoon gets ingested in total, but that happens rarely. Usually it’s a smear of food here and there.
I’m not worried, milk is primary nutrition until 1 year for us, so food is fun for now.

Might see of they show interest in what you are eating then offer them sweet potato. Baby's taste and texture likes peak and wane so sometimes they like one thing one day then not the next. My baby was obsessed with banana and now detests it and likely will like it in another few weeks.

Yes. Started at 6 months was not interested at all, would split it all out. But once he turned 7 months, something just changed and now his pulling my hand holding the spoon to his mouth. Lapping all the food up and can’t seem to get enough. 
Some babies just start a bit later.
