Inducing me early?

Hello all!
Hoping on some advice/ thoughts of others in my situation or has been in my situation.  Last week was my follow up appointment with my OB. I’m currently 30 weeks pregnant. Passed my second glucose test a month back.  Blood pressure is great and I’ve never had high blood pressure this entire pregnancy thankfully. No other complications so far, other than taking aspirin daily ( I was borderline aps-antilipid antiphospholipid syndrome) they said my numbers weren’t  high enough to be considered dangerous)and my prenatal.  No issues so far. Baby was measuring perfect... I was surprised to be told that they will be inducing me a tad early?? This is my first pregnancy and wasn’t sure if there’s a reason for that if my pregnancy ha been considered normal?  We drive an hour to this OB because she had great reviews and we were referred to her by a well known fertility doctor so we thought she would be the best choice. Why would she wanna induce me if I keep being told everything looks good? I feel like it’s busy and I freeze to ask questions when I’m there... also suck cuz my husband is still not allowed in and he has a medical background. Any thoughts? I have an appointment next week and will for sure be FaceTiming my husband while in there next to get all my answers but anyone has had this experience??

Honestly, this sounds like she’s just wanting to schedule your baby’s birth when it’s most convenient for her, which is awful. I’d ask her some very pointed questions about why this is even being considered in a low risk pregnancy.

I wouldnt be induced unless medically necessary!  Especially early!  Keep that baby in there as long as they need to be!

Make sure to write down a list of your questions so they can all be answered when you see her again. It seems odd they would want to induce you early for no reason. Good luck!

I'm personally not in favor of inducing for non-medical reasons. I would be uncomfortable if my doctor informed me that was happening with no further explanation.

Well, from everything you said inducing you early would be unwise. Definitely clear up the issue at your next appointment. Maybe the doc was thinking of someone else or just said it... seems very odd.

I used to forget questions, so I made a point of documenting questions on my phone as and when I thought of them and I’d have a list ready for the next time I was in.   It could be because in January 2019 there was a study done in the UK and was in the BMJ that it’s actually safer to induce a little earlier than to let a pregnancy go over. My OB didn’t let pregnancy go past 40 weeks. I was induced at 39 + 3 (due to very high amniotic fluid levels) but I also felt very strongly about not going over 40 weeks. Being induced was a wonderful decision for me. My labour went well, I felt in control and had a great team. My baby girl was born with no complications and is a totally boisterous 11 month old now! Saying all of that, if you’re not comfortable with being induced or disagree with her reasons, make your voice heard and advocate for what YOU want. Wishing you so much luck in these last few weeks of pregnancy! Try and rest as much as you can!!🙂

If there is not a medical reason to be induced then I would question it. It also seems too soon to talk about that. I would definitely ask what the reasoning is behind it, and if it’s not a high risk situation then you can say no I want to wait for it to happen naturally.

Advocate for yourself and don’t be afraid to question things. I would want a legitimate reason for inducing me

Normally I would suggest sticking to don’t poke the bear, but in this case it seems to me like she is projecting the likelihood of less favorable odds given the strains of pregnancy and your other medical situations. Of course this is just a speculation but perhaps she feels like your current status as a patient is more ideal for a delivery than you could be later on. 
Has she not been forthcoming with information that you’ve asked from her in the recent months? Has she been overly excited about your delivery? I don’t mean to sound harsh but you chose this individual to be your doctor, you obviously saw what you needed to see for you to select her as your doctor so what is making you question more now. 
Is it perhaps that you are seeing her in passing and don’t feel like you are getting the level of care needed? Is it that you have to know the exact outcome that she is hoping for or to avoid? Again these questions aren’t meant to provoke you but rather to get some context into the situation. 
Let me share a little something that I haven’t told 1/4 of my family yet. I have been working on a procedure that really only two people know about in my family. While it’s not 100% medically necessary at this point and you could be saying well you’re playing with your appearance and doing a risky procedure, here are the facts I’ve had a host of tests run and come back in the clear so why would I have a major surgery like this without having the absolute need for it and the answer is simple while I don’t need the procedure right this second to love I do need to be healthy enough to survive and this is the optimal situation. I’ve gotta be honest I think you should talk to your provider and let her know everything you told us in the post. Tell her that you are looking for answers even if it’s just to comfort you. Many doctors and nurses understand that you as a human get overwhelmed, scared, whatever it may be,
That’s what makes everyone human. You just may be surprised by the response and the fact that they may not be telling you everything as a means of controlling your stress level.
