Can breastfeeding sessions be too long?!

My 2 month old still breast feeds for 30-40 minutes each feeding.. any advice on this? I feel like this is abnormally long for babies his age?

No that’s actually normal. I was told  by my lactation consultant that it should be between 20-45 min. The last 15 minutes of feeding on the breast is where the baby gets all the healthy fats they need. So that sounds really normal 👍🏼

Same! Mine is also 2 months and it takes him a long time as he shuts his eyes and chills for a few mins then feeds again. He’s running a bit small for his age as he was little when born. Your baby is so adorable! I’m loving this age!

By that age, they should be emptying your breast by 20 minutes at the most.  Some babies do have milk transfer issues though for one reason or another and that can lead to long nursing sessions.  My daughter nurses for 45 minutes at a pop until she was 6 months old.  She just liked being on the breast.  I was so worn out from nursing though and constantly felt like she wasn’t getting enough if she was nursing that much.  I wish someone had told me it was okay to take her off the breast when it felt mostly empty 😩
