How did your relationship change with your in laws once baby was here?

P.s. mine were really nice until I had babies. Now, I am just a disposable addition to ‘their’ family.

It was kind of the same way for me. They were soooo sweet and welcoming.  Once baby was here, I just got shoved to the side  and they are so ridiculously focused on my SO’s relationship with our son that it’s like I don’t even exist.  One time, our son was fussing so I said I’d take him back because he was hungry, and SO’s sister was like “oh Mark can make him happy” and went to hand him to SO.  He was like “uhhh no, I don’t have boobs, give him to mom like she asked.”  She was so bitter handing him over to me!
It’s like they think I don’t *allow* him to do more but the fact is, during the week, my SO is often at work before our son wakes up and home after he’s asleep.  He used to travel the country for jobs (does welding in power plants) so he’d be gone up to 8 weeks at a time, home for a week, and gone again, his first year of life.   Obviously our son is far more attached to me because I’m with him all day and I think they take offense to that 🙄

My in laws love my son to pieces and honestly I try to stay on good terms with them is the best way to put it.  Our relationship has never been great. My husband is an only child, and in my MILs eyes can do no wrong. 
One thing that really annoys me is my inlaws act like my husband had the baby on his own. Everything my son does is oh his dad used to do that, he looks/acts/thinks/talks just like his dad.

I don’t feel like much changed. We joke that my husband and I aren’t important anymore because there are grand kids but it’s a joke.

My in-laws were so sweet until We announced that we were pregnant. Boundaries had to be set and feelings were hurt.

My mother in law n law secretly hates me because we currently live almost two hours away from the them and we have the chance to move closer if we wanted to but I have no intentions of wanting to live in the same town as my in laws currently. She told me that my thinking isn’t fair on her and has even gotten my father in law involved. My MIL has trapped me before about the idea and my FIL has done the same to my husband. Even after I had given my MIL several legitimate reasons in why it is not possible.

We bonded even closer on my father in law side. As for my mother in law we are ehhh fake lol
