Baby arrived!!!
On Wednesday morning I had a midwife appointment and we discovered I was already dilated 3cm and about 50-60% effaced. I was 37+3.
I was in total disbelief.
Then around 2pm, MY WATER BROKE!!
Talk about disbelief. I was still processing the news from the morning when I had something even crazier happen.
After about 2.5 hours at home, we headed to my out of hospital birth center and labored there. I was about 5cm at that point. I had absolutely no pain.
Around 9:30pm Friday night, my husband, myself, and our midwife loaded up and headed to the hospital after exhausting all our options at the birth center trying to get things moving. (Being a VBAC mama, the birth center is limited on what they can do for inducing contractions being that they are out of hospital)
I was (still am) very tired at this point and decided I wanted to go to the hospital and do an epidural so I could really rest and force my body to relax since I had been doing so much walking, squatting, spinning babies, etc at this point that I was so exhausted but every time I rested, contractions fizzled out and took forever to return. I was 6cm when we arrived at the hospital and about 80% effaced. I still had absolutely no pain.
That’s all my body needed! I began regular contractions not long after the epidural. I chose to do the lowest possible dose as I still wanted to feel in control of my body. The epidural wore off around the same time I began feeling like it was time to push and I got to feel it all!! Still no pain (mostly thanks to the epidural for no pain during transition) but at the end of transition as I neared time to push that’s when I felt it wearing off and I really really needed to focus and I went within myself during that time.
He’s been a nursing champ and latched right away after the placenta was completely done pulsating and finally detached from him.
11 minutes of pushing later and he was out!!!
All 8lb and 19.5” of him was born at 7:44am yesterday 🥰💙
