Which are you using or prefer?

I'm looking at childcare for my 1.5 year old son in Manchester. I'm not sure which to go for.

I'm in Manchester too 😁 there seems to be quite a few good nurseries around. I personally prefer smallish nurseries over childminders, just so that there can be some level of quality control, and a set of rules/a system the staff have to follow. Plus it's really nice to see my daughter form relationships with so many of her carers and the other kids. Also the number of playthings they have (not just toys, other stuff too like shredded paper 😅), the outdoor space, and all the activities. It's quite hard to replicate the diversity of things you get in this setting vs a childminder's home. Ofc... be very careful when you choose where to send your kid! In either case. Scout the place out, talk to the people involved, get a feel for the place, see how they work. If it feels off, trust your instincts.

It varies so much on the settings. Some nursery chains are very good and others treat your child just as an income for them. I prefer smaller nurseries, my daughter goes to a small chain of nurseries (1 of 3) and she loves it. They are so caring and attentive and she has come on leaps and bounds. Look online at nurseries ratings there is a website that only posts parents ratings, they are sent to nurseries to give to parents and only posted if verified. 
Childminders can be good but I like the variety of children and staff my daughter has (she’s 3 now) so she has more exposure than being with one childminder and a few kids.

We used a childminder until he was 2.5 and he’s now in nursery.
