Men and periods
So, I saw this article the other day about how a widower father has his daughter do chores around the house to "pay" for her extracurriculars and her "extra" heygeine products, as in her period products. While his son doesn't do chores because the extracurriculars he does, as the father put it, could get him into college while in his oppinion the daughters extraciriculars are just "hobbies."
Here's the screenshots of the post.
I'm sure we can agree that all this behavior is attrocious. I mean, I was reading and was so furious and told my boyfriend about it. And I let him know that if in the future we had a daughter, and whether I was around or not, that I would expect him to know how to help her and know what products to buy and all that.
I guess my few questions are, for women who have a partner who don't experience periods and don't really know about them, have you educated your partner on them? Would you be able to rely on your partner to be comfortable enough? Is it really only a women's/someone's who experiences periods job to know these things? Has this been a conversation in your household aalready? What was that experieence like?
Overall, I want my boyfriend to be educated about peiords and the women's body, especially with the thought of if we have a daughter and I'm not around. He's never made me feel embarrassed and has always been really helpful around my period, so I would expect the same with a hypothetical daughter. As its natural and basic biology and everyone should certainly be educated about it. Because if I saw him acting like the man in this post, I would haunt the shit out of him 😂 jk
(I don't post super often so if this is in the wrong group I'll move it.)
