Epidural?

Okay guys so I’m a “little” scared of needles and I’m really worried about getting the epidural but I don’t think my pain tolerance is high enough to go natural. To the veteran mommies or those of you who already have your sweet babies and opted for the epidural, how was it honestly? Like, how long does it take for them to actually insert it? How long will the needle be in my back? 😭 Thanks in advance, I just need some answers lol.

My experience (and others will have had different ones): I didn’t feel the needle, see the needle or anything. Doctor looked at my spine for a good long while. Pointed me with her fingers a bit. Placed it and was done. Getting blood drawn was worse for me in comparison.

The epidural was a cake walk compared to the labor pains. Unfortunately I only got about 4 hours of relief out of 16 because my induction slowed down instead of progressing and they shut my epidural off. So I ended up going naturally anyway and the pain was so bad I though I would die. I'd get 10 epidurals before I go natural. I closed my eyes and didn't look at the needle. My husband however watched and almost fainted.

The labor pains were so bad I barely noticed the needle. Once the rubber catheter is in, the needle is removed and everything is held down with a huge piece of clear taping. So you won’t have a needle in you for more than 30 seconds. I loved the epidural because it gave me time to rest before pushing. Once baby arrives sleep goes out the window so I appreciate all the sleep I can get beforehand.

Ok so I may be totally opposite from every other post . 
First let me say 1st child get nothing but pressure . Was so happy not to be in pain . Got it at 2cm (my water broke early and it made contractions strong)  2nd child made it to like a 4 , again just pressure . 3rd child I got stuck 3 times and still afterwards only worked for 20 minutes . By that time I was ready to push, I felt everything . 
This time there is no way I’m getting  stuck .  I know now I can do it natural and my labors are pretty short . (With saying that idk if I could have done it with my 1-2child lol) I think it depends  on who sticks you too. I would just make sure they have been doing it a while ! Idk if I just had a new person or what but bc of my last experience I’m scared to get another . I would rather go through the pain of labor . 🥴🤷‍♀️

I didn’t even register that I had it. I also have scoliosis and was worried that would cause trouble but it didn’t other then the dr having to work it through a bit more (not the needle itself). I can’t even tell you if it was a male or female doctor. When you’re to the point you need it, you won’t care and you can’t see it anyway, unlike other times they use a needle. They show you nothing, in my experience. They had me facing away from them as soon as they came in.

I was in so much pain from the contractions I did not feel it.  They couldn't get it right at first cause my contractions were so bad I couldn't hold still.

With my first the feeling of the needle going in wasn’t bad. The taking forever was THE WORST. I had back contractions and as soon as they started putting the needle in I had a contraction and they had to wait until it was over to continue. They were so close together I had to sit through 2 contractions. My husband had to hold me in place cause I didn’t realize I was starting to lean while contracting. 
Unfortunately with my back labor it caused the epidural to not work

I honestly couldn't feel it I was in so much pain from contractions I just wanted them to get it in as quick as possible 😂 the thought of it scares me but honestly in the moment you won't care

Honestly by the time I got the epidural with 2 of mine, I didn’t feel a thing! I was miserable from contractions and didn’t feel the needle at all
