Is once a cheater always a cheater? Very curious.

Iv Heard this everywhere that once a cheater always a cheater. I don’t personally think it’s true. What do you gets think?

I don’t think it’s true. I was young and stupid and cheated on my first boyfriend because he cheated on me. 
I have been with my husband now for 4 years and have never cheated on him and never will. 
In some cases it’s true. My ex has cheated on the majority of his girlfriends so I’d say this is true for him. But not all are like this.

I've been reading a lot about attachment theory lately and have come to the conclusion we're all basically products of our environment. If someone cheats it's likely rooted in some childhood issue that makes it very difficult for them to connect and experience real intimacy with someone. I think this can be overcome but it takes a LOT of work and steady self awareness. 
Without the self awareness and willingness to change and unravel negative behavior patterns, I do think a cheater will likely continue the same behavior.

I don’t think it’s always true. I think it depends on the person and the relationship. In college, I’ll admit I cheated on a boyfriend. Not a proud moment, but it happened. Cheating on my husband has never crossed my mind. I changed and matured as a person and the relationship I am in now is different than it was when I was a kid.

I think there are two types of cheaters. The serial cheater and the cheater who does it once for whatever reason and regrets it the moment it happens. Both are not ok to do but for the serial cheaters they won't change no matter what they say.
