My boyfriend recently graduated as an engineer this past December but has been unemployed since April 2020. He’s been looking for an engineering job but because of the pandemic, he hasn’t had any job offers and has no experience.

I’ve been supportive by encouraging him to keep looking for jobs.

However, it’s been hard.

In this past year, I’ve been paying every date (we usually divided the check in half). He only puts 3 dollars of gas every time he needs to drive and will usually stay at his moms house “looking for jobs”. Lately, he’s been complaining a lot about not having a job or money. I’ve mentioned him to look for jobs that would hire him easily, like retail jobs or Uber eats. However, he doesn’t want those types of jobs and would even get a little pissed when I mention it.

I know he feels frustrated and desperate. But I feel too! His negativity is affecting me and now I feel like he’s just pissed off because I have a job and he doesn’t.

Any type of advice is highly appreciated!!
