Do you receive regular lawn treatments of pesticides/herbicides or do you apply them yourself?

For those who don’t, how do you keep weeds in check? I prefer not to use chemicals with kids but I don’t think it’s possible to control the weeds without them.

We don't use chemicals at all. If we see a dandelion or a weed we use a weed fork and take the root out. In the end though would rather have some weeds that poison my lawn. We use well water I don't want that shit in my water table or on my kids/dogs/bees

We pull them by hand. It’s fine if you just do a few each time you’re outside. I keep a trowel on the steps so it’s easy to grab to dig up stubborn ones. We have a small child and pets and there is not reason to expose them to unnecessary chemicals. We also invite diverse insect life, including a large pollinator selection.

We just started having treatments for bugs around and inside the house that are kid- and pet-friendly. We’ve been seeing more and more critters coming inside the last couple months and the store-bought DIY stuff just wasn’t cutting it anymore (or maybe it was too much effort to keep up with all the areas with our busy two toddler and baby on the way life).
If we got rid of all the weeds in our yard, we wouldn’t have a “lawn” at all 😂 Our landlord is TERRIBLE about taking care of the yard and it’s in too bad of shape to justify us doing it when we’ll only be here another year or so. It would take several months of my husband spending all day out there on his day off and that’s not worth it at all. We’ll keep up with it better when we’re in our own house, but not have regular weed treatments.

We use fertilizer twice a year that prevents ants and weeds if that’s what you mean. Our outdoor cat has to stay in for a few hours after we do it but other than that we don’t spray anything on our lawn. If weeds do pop up we just pull them out.

I pull them and we use par 3, it's perfectly safe after 24-48 hours

We don't treat weeds, but we get treatment for bugs. Weeds don't bother me 🤷🏼‍♀️
