37 Weeks and measuring small?

I just came back from my weekly ob visit and my midwife said that my stomach is measuring small so they told me to go in for a growth ultrasound with a specialist to make sure everything is okay with baby and my placenta. Did this happen to anyone else in this group? I’m just concerned because I’m a first time mom. Thank you all in advance!

I had to have a growth scan then too, just a precaution and can happen if you've had 2 different midwives measure you as sometimes they measure a bit differently. Or they might of not taken measures from exactly the same place and gotten a bit of a discrepancy. They just have to have a look to make sure that's all it is and baby isn't having a rough time or your fluids haven't gone down too much as sometimes that can happen. 
They're just doing their due diligence and getting you checked, but I'm sure you'll be just fine. My little girl was perfect and they estimated her at 7lb 2oz and she was born at 41 weeks at 8lb 5oz so nice and big. And that was after I dropped 2 percentiles between measurements. 
If you've never had a scan this late before though, don't expect it to be a cute one like your 12 or 20 week. Baby is very big and squashed and so there's not much room around baby for you to get a cute silhouette.

The belly measurement is just an estimate. It can also change if the baby’s position changes (maybe lying horizontal or closer to your back). It’s good to err on the safe side and do an ultrasound to make sure all is well. I’m sure everything will be fine. I’m actually the opposite, my baby is measuring big (97th percentile). Freaking out that I will have to deliver a big baby lol

This happened around 37 weeks during my last pregnancy. I measured small, but they said it could be due to baby's position. They had me come back a few days later for another measurement (if I was still measuring small they said they would send me for a scan) and everything was fine. Baby had moved into another position 🤷🏼‍♀️

This happened to me. My baby stopped growing inside for some reason. My placenta and fluid levels were fine. The day I went in for my scan I was diagnosed with IUGR and preeclampsia. I delivered that day. Don’t worry momma, a scan will get the answers your doctor needs to make the best decision for you and your baby. My little guy was born at 35 weeks and 5 days. He was small but healthy. Best wishes!

The measurement of your stomach isn’t super accurate. I wouldn’t worry yet! The growth scan will give them more information. 
My belly measured a little small and I hadn’t gained much weight, but baby was measuring ok and the specialist wasn’t concerned.

Yeah exact same thing happened with me and everything was fine at the scan, babys measurements were perfect :) hopefully it'll be the same for you! X

The fundal measurement can be off based on baby’s position. They told me with my 1st pregnancy based on mine I would have around a 6lb baby but my son was born 8 lbs 11.5 oz 😂. He just liked to sit more towards my back which made me look smaller. A growth scan should help but even those can be off sometime. Try to not stress and I’m sure all is well!

Some people just carry differently. I'm short waisted so I don't get big when I'm pregnant. I wouldn't be too worried.
