Can I Say I Graduated College Now or No?

Question

I am going to a small little medical college. It only teaches health field stuff, pharmacy, CNA, Phlebotomy, LPN, RN, Medical Assistant, etc. This isn’t like a big big college. This is a small college inside a business building. They get the two top floors and it’s dedicated to the schools stuff. I had to take a test to get accepted, fill out an application....I paid and arm and a leg to get in....can I say I graduated from a college or is this not seen as a real college since it’s just my CNA? It is listed as a credited college in our state, it’s licensed and everything...i don’t want to seem cocky or anything. It’s even federally credited because now I can use my CNA license in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

I don't necessarily think they means you graduated from college,  because you don't have a degree,  but you completed your certification. That's still a big accomplishment you should be proud of!

Did you earn a degree or was it a certificate program? A certificate is fine, but I wouldn’t say I graduated from college if I had a certificate.

A certificate program isn’t at all the same as a degree program (doesn’t make one better than the other...they’re just different and for different things). If you got a degree along with your CNA (like an associates degree) then you can say you’ve graduated from college (because graduated implies a degree). If not, then you say something like “I have my CNA” which really, for most jobs you’ll be targeting with that certification is exactly what they’ll be looking for anyway! They don’t necessarily care if you took all the general education stuff and got a degree, but that certificate is super important! It can be annoying, but you don’t want anyone (particularly employers) to feel mislead. Now outside of formal documents and applications, formality is less important so I don’t think it matters as much. Also, congratulations!

I work at a tech College in my city. We don't say our students graduated as they are certificate programs. We say you convocate.

I think you can say that yes, but really no employer wants to know if you've graduated, they just want to know what degree it was. Was it an AA? A Bachelor of Science? That seems to be the more important part.

You didn’t get a 2 or 4 year associates or bachelors degree with a major you just became a CNA. Good job, but that’s not college. It’s a certificate.

I was also a CNA years ago and went to a college to study and earn my license. I wouldn’t consider it the same thing as graduating college bc you didn’t get a degree. You earned a certification which is awesome but not the same thing. When asked on job applications I would say I attended some college but never said I actually graduated bc I never received a degree.

I’d say you ‘Graduated’ -with no attachment to ‘College’. A graduate is someone who completes a course of study. Which you did. Hell you graduate from Pre-k lol Congrats girl at the end of the day YOU DID YA DAMN THING 🎉

Did you get a degree? If you got a degree then you graduated college. If you took classes at a college but dont have a degree then you attended a college. I’m my state you don’t need a degree to be a CNA but you need an associates degree to be an LPN. Another example is that I have a bachelors degree in Liberal Arts which means I graduated college. Because I attended my colleges education program I was able to take the state boards and because I passed the boards along with my degree I became a license teacher. Passing the test didn’t mean I graduated college.
