I get Day 5 blastocyst results today…
Hi ladies,
Should hear from my embryologist in the next few hours about how many day 5/6 blasts were viable to freeze and send for PGT. Recovery from egg retrieval this time was much worse than my last, so I am feeling emotional/ vulnerable.
We had 7 eggs fertilize normally this cycle. My first cycle, we had 10 fertilize normally, 4 created day 5 blasts for PGT but all came back abnormal. I worry that we are on track this time for an even worse result. I know it only takes one, but given my track record it feels like I need more than 4…
UPDATE:
Results are in … of the 7 eggs fertilized we got 3 day 5 blasts of grades A/B, B/B and C/C.
These results are eerily similar to my first round which resulted in no normal blasts on PGT. Of 10 fertilized, got 4 blasts of grades A/A, A/A, B/C, and C/C. So in our second round we got the same proportion of blasts and very similar distribution of grades…
It feels like we are again marching down the road if no normal blasts … gosh, I feel like we just have to hope it’s all about luck in the end and we could get as extremely lucky this time as we were extremely unlucky last time …
UPDATE #2:
PGT results back… 2/3 embryos were aneuploid (abnormal) and the third didn’t have enough genetic material to test. They will re-biopsy and test the third but it doesn’t look good. My doctor is baffled - she has never seen a case like mine, in someone with such a large egg supply and only 33 I should have many normal embryos. She is assembling a team of RE’s, embryologists and geneticists to discuss and plan next steps. Anyone else out there repeatedly get abnormal embryos at this high a volume? 7 now for me at age 33…
