Does birth control cause delay in conceiving after stopping it.

I have had my 4th baby in about a year and half ago I had terrible hormonal imbalance and didn't have a period for a whole year then decided to be on birth control pills to regulate my hormones I took it since January until March luckily it regulated my period but since March we have been trying for our 5th baby and no luck until now I don't know if this is a cause from the birth control pills???this month I'm late 4 days for the first time in months I have been testing negative for pregnancy yet I don't know what's wrong. Is it a reaction now after pills or is it my body trying to regulate on its own. Has anyone gone through this. Please let me know. Thank you
