Giving juice yet?

I was trying to hold off on any juice but our LO was sick and I was just eager to get any fluids in him...of course he loves it. He's only the 4th percentile for weight so my husband thinks we should just keep letting him have some in moderation. Wanted to see what my October moms were doing about juice.

Truly my opinion on most everything food/drink wise is that moderation is more important than the item. We personally don’t give juice, however it’s because my son hates it (his daycare teachers didn’t believe me until he took one sip and then spit it down the front of him 🤷🏼‍♀️😂) I was 100% against sugar for a long time but have realized so long as you set a good base of natural sugars and veggies, the rest in moderation is perfectly fine 🤷🏼‍♀️

My son gets prob 4-5 oz of OJ with calcium every morning. That’s the only time he gets any tho.

Not really but can’t say no because I have let him try orange juice and apple juice but i usually water it down if I do let him have some!

Not against juice, but my son loves water so I don’t wanna ruin that. He’s a had a few sips of mine before but I never just give him a cup of juice or a juice box. 
If he was sick and wouldn’t drink the water I would definitely try and give him juice with no hesitation.

In this case I think you did the right thing! We give it only on special occasions. So maybe 5x a year a this point and the. Obviously if he was sick or constipated and he needed it. We try to avoid it bc of all the sugar. There are more healthy options now so that is a plus compared to when we were kids!

We do juice but I mix it like 1/4 juice to water so its very diluted and she enjoys it with dinner since that's what I like to drink. I think anything in moderation is fine and it def helps her to get more fluids and softer poops.

Our girl has had a few sips of juice here and there, but she doesn’t really know it’s a thing so we are just sticking to milk and water for now. I did give her a sip of my Shirley Temple last night and she hated it. Spit it right back out! 🤣 When she had a stomach virus, we gave her pedialyte, which she also didn’t care for that much. I don’t think she prefers sweet drinks just yet so we aren’t offering them to her on a regular basis for now.

We’ve been doing juice this entire time. She gets about 8oz of pear juice daily, and has never had an issue. I wouldn’t say it makes me a fun mom, it just helps her poop better.

Most of the time we just do water and milk but we love the Honest Kids juice boxes when she does drink juice!
