6 month baby, cups?

Question

When do you start giving baby cups? I saw at Walmart that the cups are for 6+ months. I’m wondering if this is a thing I should start doing? What do I put in the cup? When do I offer it? My WIC pamphlet says I can offer juice but I feel like it’s so early for juice? He’s just a baby 😢 FTM so I’m clueless.

We use a Munchkin non spill cup with my little boy. He's 10 months now but we've been using it for several months. It has handles so he has learned how to drink from it himself.
We've only ever offered him water in that cup, but he has had warmed milk and likes to drink my mum's green tea once it's cool enough too! He drinks that from her regular cups, so it's not without some mess. 😊

We offered water at every meal and when we went outside as soon as she started baby food and foods. Our pediatrician didn’t advise any juice unless 2 oz of prune juice when she needed help pooping.

My kids really love the Nuk learner cups. I put water and milk in them. I tried juice and honestly, they’re not really fans. If anything, my son drinks a little watered down OJ with breakfast (he’s almost 2), but we didn’t do that when he was under 1. 
My daughter is 10m and usually has water or whole milk (not much) with her solid meals. She was comfortably using the Nuk learner cups at 6+ months. She now likes those and the Munchkin weighted straw cups.

We started with straw and open cups (tiny tiny open cups like a medicine cap actually) at 6 months with small amounts of water. 
Gradually made our way up to no more than 6 oz of water per day before 12 months. And the open cup became a bigger (but still appropriately sized for hands) cup. He preferred the straw cups though. 
We are still a no juice family for our 3 year old except when he gets constipated or at things like birthday parties.

Cool boiled water. You don’t need to give a cup but I do around the same time as starting solids which is usually 6mths. I give food then a small sip/s of water.

We just offered water at 6 months when he had solids. Since he turned one we use it for water and milk.
My little guy likes cups a lot but it’s still difficult for him to really drink a decent amount from at 13 months. We offer water from a cup besides from a sippy cup from which he drinks very well since around 6/7 months I think. 
There are lots of different options, I read good stories about the ones with a straw as well. There are also the non leaking ones with a ‘lid’, but my little guy can’t figure that one out (and it leaks a ton since he pushes on the lid). Just give some a try, don’t be disappointed when a cup is a bit too difficult for now!
