Opks do not determine pregnancy. Opks do not determine ovulation. But it can be positive because of hcg.

So, it’s complicated. HCG and LH are structurally similar compounds, and these dip stick/pee tests are considered an immunoassay screen. Because they are structurally similar at the compound level, HCG can cause an LH test to appear positive IF there is enough HCG to cause a cross-reactive reaction. The LH/ovulation sticks are not specific enough to distinguish the two. With that being said, a positive LH/ovulation test cannot be relied upon as a positive pregnancy test. In some cases, women do have an LH surge before their period triggering a positive.

LH test is for ovulation and it picks up a surge in oestrogen. At the end of your cycle you will have an oestrogen surge regardless of whether your pregnant or not. That’s why it’s recommended to stop testing after you receive your positive. If you want to test for pregnancy then correct test is a pregnancy test which picks up Hcg, the pregnancy hormone. You’re doing yourself a disservice by using an incorrect test otherwise.
