Anybody else had one and is it that bad??

If you aren't claustrophobic you will do fine. It is loud but not unbearable.  They gave me headphones which helped a little. 
I am a little claustrophobic and started to panic & cry when they started putting me into the machine. They brought me back out & let me calm down before trying again. He gave me a towel to put over my eyes and talked to me through the intercom which helped. It was a really long 30 minutes though.

I have MRI every year for the past 5 years or so. I have to do it with contrast injection so, for me, the most uncomfortable process involves injection as I don’t like needles 😂 
The rest is ok, you are just put in a big machine which starts to make bunch of different noises but they give you ear plugs so, it’s not a big deal (at least for me). This is only for head MRI, I’m not sure about other parts of the body. I did once for a neck, it was the same thing.

They are not horrible, no. Are you doing contrast or no contrast? They can take some time, usually in intervals. They should have you put on headphones while doing the imaging (they’ll usually ask what type of music you like) it’s pretty loud even with the music going, you can also experience your body heating or almost a “burning” sensation but that’s normal. But you just lay down, they put you into the machine, and you just lay there and relax while it does it’s job and then your done.

I had one today, my first one ever, wasn’t bad at all. I was given Diazepam to keep my baby still (the MRI was for her), the meds made me very drowsy, so I fell asleep through it.

I have had a few.  Usually they are relaxing for me and I could dose off if they lasted longer.  I don’t like closed in spaces but this doesn’t bother me.  However, you need to remain very still.  So I had one done on my spine and was in excruciating pain.  That was hard.  
My husband isn’t claustrophobic, generally, but hates getting MRIs.  His nerves and muscles have a rare reaction that they “overreact”.  So he definitely doesn’t get the same relaxing feeling that I get.  
Let them know if you have any metal in or on your body.

It’s fine. It’s kind of loud, and uncomfortable with my disc issues to lay perfectly still for the images, but whatever. It’s an hour of my life 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve had 3, abdomen and shoulder. They weren’t bad at all and I’m pretty claustrophobic. However if you are on the plus side like me, I prefer having my arm raised above my head vs next to me as it made my arm fall asleep.

I had two both times it felt like. I peed myself, i didn’t it just feels that way 
Plus you get hot like your head gets hot but only for a moment

I get claustrophobic easily myself and it wasn’t too bad. Just very loud. I had to drink this horrible liquid stuff beforehand and that was honestly the worst part. Just breathe through it. I will say my MIL just had one last week and was given something to relax and made it through just fine too!

Not sore but very load especially if you are getting it done on your brain and last 15-20 minutes! I get one done once a year
