Am I being dramatic?

Question

I am a new step mom to a 2 year old boy and a 4 year old girl. 
My husband changes my 1  year old sons diaper all the time. He’s fine doing it. 
But I am not comfortable changing his sons diaper. Maybe one day I will be but right now I’m just not comfortable with it. And now we are in a big fight cause he thinks I’m just making excuses. It’s just not something I’m comfortable with. 
Am I being dramatic?

Umm, my guess is you never babysat and had to change other kids' diapers. If you had, then you probably wouldn't give it a 2nd thought.
I suppose I would feel put out if I  were expected to change all diapers due to being female. But if the duties are shared, then why would you put your own discomfort over a child's who needs hygiene attended to in order to prevent diaper rash?
Sorry, not trying to shame you. I just don't understand the cause of your reluctance.

I don't think younare being dramatic per se, but I wonder why it is that you are uncomfortable exactly? Do you know why? 
I think he views your refusal more as an unwillingness to be part of the team he himself has subscribed to. If he is willing to change your child's diaper when needed for the well being of the child and your ease....shouldn't you at the very least be willing to offer the same to him?
Again, not dramatics...but not exactly ok either. You may want to work on that.

That’s weird. Any baby that needs to be changed, gets changed. 
I work with little kids though so I’m used to changing all kinds of diapers/potty training.

So what are you gonna do if youre left alone with the kids for hours and he needs his diaper changed? Just leave him until his dad gets home? Tbh- Id be having second thoughts about my marriage if they felt that changing my sons diaper was an inconvenience. 🙄

Sounds a bit ridiculous to me to be honest. It would be one thing if you’ve never done it but you have a 1 year old. Did you really think you were going to marry a man with small children and not  have to participate in their care? Part of being a parent and a responsible adult is doing a whole lot of shit you don’t want to do, including “wiping every ass in your house”

I guess it would depend on what you’re uncomfortable about. If it’s that you’re uncomfortable with changing diapers because you don’t know the kids well that would be one thing, but if it’s because you think it’s gross or not your job, then yeah, there would be a problem.

It took me 4 years to feel comfortable with putting sun cream on my husbands son.. 
let alone change a diaper.

Some people are just different. I don't think it's weird at all but that's just the mom instinct in me.

Not being dramatic but definitely need to look in yourself as to why you feel that way. There seems to be a deeper thing going on inside of you that needs addressing. Not trying to bash you, I've just been in therapy for a long ass time and that raises some flags to dig deeper and find the source.

If his son is 2 he won’t be in diapers very long. You got it!
