Cats and newborn baby?

I have 2 cats in an apartment and I have my family in laws telling me how HORRIBLE it is to have cats with a baby and how my kid would get very sick etc. etc. 
Literally every single time we’re over I’m just waiting for it to be brought up again and for them to continue talking for so long saying, “when you have a kid, the kid needs to be top priority but if you care more about your cats than your child then 🤷‍♀️” but then talk more shit after. 
I’m due in 6 days and I was just over there and they did it once again and it’s just so weird bc it’s the whole family but they also HATE cats so I can’t take shit they’re saying serious. Oh yeah they said a dog is fine (they like dogs) but cats are DANGEROUS for the baby. 😐
I even spoke with my DOCTOR and she said it’s completely fine and helps with allergies and we then told my bf’s family that and they said, “why would you listen to doctor’s, doctors don’t always know shit especially modern ones” like ???????????????????? It’s just so annoying I just don’t say anything because they’re so hardheaded and keep telling us, “watch when something happens to that kid because of them you’re going to regret it” 
So anyone, I know what they’re saying is BS but has anyone’s newborn gotten sick bc of their cat? I cackle bc it’s just so funny bc they hate cats so fucking much so it’s obvious why they say shit like this. I can’t

It’s perfectly fine to have cats around babies. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. One of my cats is 14 years old, I’ve had him since I was 13. He LOVES to cuddle my baby bump and I know he’s going to adore this baby. 
Literally the only thing to be careful of is that they don’t smother baby if they cuddle them. That’s it. Having animals around baby will help with their immune system and can even prevent allergies from developing later in life.

Two kids, two cats - absolutely no problems. No allergies or reactions. Only positive experiences, even our rescue cat that hate everyone tolerate the little ones, even let them pet her.

We had 4 cats at our house when our first was born and we had 5 cats when our second was born. Other than our overly lovey maine coon wanting to snuggle while i snuggled the baby weve had 0 issues. The cats pretty much disappeared when we brought our first home and wanted nothing to do with her once they realized she cried 😂

My cat would literally sleep in my sons crib by his feet, he never had any reaction to her such as being allergic. Or course I let her sniff him first to make sure he seemed before I just let her lounge in his crib but she would watch over him I found it quite cute 🤷🏻‍♀️ I see no reason for what your in laws are saying

I think it's good having pets before having a baby the baby will immune to them, tell them to mind their own business. If they don't like it don't visit 😊

The cat is fine. They’re completely out of line. Just make sure you wash your hands after cleaning the cat box (like most do). What is their specific concern with cats? Have they said! Of they don’t have anything specific to say they’re just being jerks! If they do have a specific concern tell them you’ll look into it and do some research, to appease them. Some cats like to cuddle, so there could be some concern with suffocation of baby, but that’s why you just keep them out of the babies room and just don’t leave baby unattended with cat. But that’s it. We had a cat while living at my grandmas house for the first 5 months of our daughters life. No issues there.

Pregnant with my first and my cat is obsessed with me and very affectionate lately. I don’t see him being an issue. Now my hyper dogs? Yeah they are large and could see them knocking baby over or something so we’re definitely working hard on the training. 
We had 2 cats when my sister came home from the hospital (15 years younger than me) and she was premature and everything was still fine. In fact my cat (was a kitten then) still loves her to this day when she comes to visit he instantly sits in her lap and tolerates all the toys on him and everything 10 years later.
