Middle name or no middle name??

Question

So I've never been a fan of middle names and always thought I wouldn't give my baby one. My husband on the other hand thinks it's weird to not have a middle name. Now that I'm due in less than 2 weeks I'm struggling with this. On one hand I think middle names are unnecessary but I also don't want my child to grow up wishing he had one. I guess I just want to see how most people feel about them

My dad doesn’t have one so every official document says “NMI” (no middle initial).  He even gets mail that says ex. Bob NMI Smith

A girl I went to high school was never given a middle name, nor were her siblings. They were given the option when they turned 18 to pick their own middle name, and the parents would help with the paperwork and expense to get it legally added to their name. I don't know if any of them chose to pick a middle name, but I thought the whole set up was strange. 
As someone who always heard my full name whenever at my Grandma's, I have always since said the middle name is just so the kid knows they're in trouble. I haven't heard mine since Grandma died in 2006, and for the record, I was rarely in trouble, she just decided using everyone's full name was a necessity for some reason.

I don’t care for a middle name either, but my boyfriend does. So our little guy has a middle name and I let my boyfriend choose it (well together but him a bit more). The reasons my boyfriend wanted a middle name is that it’s common and in case our son doesn’t like his first name, than he can switch to his middle name. The latter I found a bit strange and funny but okay.
Any possible future kids will have a middle name too because I think it would be a tad strange if one has and another doesn’t.

Since it’s pretty standard to have a middle name, I think it would probably be more frustrating not to have one. Almost every legal document your child will have to fill out as an adult will ask for a middle name or initial.
I find having more than one middle name unnecessary, but everybody has their own culture and opinion on it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I dont have a middle name, but I have two last names and always use both. And that's the norm here, I think less than 20% gets a middle name. So I don't really see the point of middle name(s).
My father is the only one in my family that has a middle name - they thought he would die soon after birth being 2,5month premature born late 60is so they named him after his grandfathers on both sides.

I only do middle name if i have skmeone to honor with one, a dead someone not living lol. Otherwise its useless and i wont do it

It really doesn’t matter. Do it or don’t. Just don’t do something like PP for initials.
