How to know when God is speaking to you?

I grew up with this Christian guy I have had a crush on him my whole life and can’t get over him no matter how hard I try. I keep getting this feeling like deep down I feel like we’re meant to be together and when the time is right it will happen. I don’t know if it’s God putting this feeling in me or if this is my own mind.

Him and I talk on and off but he told me he’s not looking for a relationship currently which I respect because he’s very busy with school… I personally am not ready as much as I want to find “the one” either. I have a lot going on right now too.

I know that God will send the right person my way when the time is right whether it is this guy or not. I’m just trying to understand the difference between Gods voice and my own…
