I don't want a fake wedding ring..
My husband and I have been married for 6 years, my orginal ring was real diamonds, but it was on a sterling silver band and it has tarnished over time. It recently lost one of the stones, and would also need a resizing since my fingers have gotten fatter since having kids. Keep in mind this ring was nothing super fancy he bought it while he was a private in the army on a very slim budget.
But since we wouldn't be able to get that ring fixed, and his orginal wedding ring recently broke while helping some friends moved we decided it was time for some new ones anyways. So we ordered new rings from this website I had found called the modern gents. But the ring is super fake. Again it's sterling silver, and the "diamonds" are only CZ. I feel like you can totally tell it's fake as can be, I feel like I'm wearing a play ring, and not to mention for a fake ring it is a lot prettier than my orginal 😅 so I know my family and friends will notice it. And what do I say? Yeah we upgraded me to a fake ring?!!! Lol. I went from real diamonds to a $70 ring?!!
I want to tell my husband that I absolutely hate it, I would atleast rather have a ring with moissanite if anything. We had a super rough year last year that almost broke our marriage. So that's another reason why we wanted new rings, and I just feel like this is a slap in the face in a sense. Like it's not even special.
Do I sound ridiculous? I just feel like I've downgraded to a piece of plastic. And I know its not about the ring, or the money. Hell I loved my broke private ring. But this just doesn't feel right at all.
Just want to thank you ladies for your honest input. We can not get the orginal fixed because it's sterling silver and it also needs the prongs fixed but they fear of them snapping off and if they replace it might discolor it which is true because they are soldered and you can definitely see a bit of discoloring. I did talk to my husband about how I felt and we ended up going to a jewelry store and picked something I actually like. We have the finances for this, so that is not an issue. This ring still cost less than a thousand. It actually wasn't even half of that. And it's definitely not about the money. I am a sentimental person, and that ring just did not feel any kind of special to me. It wasn't even anything that fit ME as who I am. I felt bougee honestly.
