Twins gene ?

I looked up how the twin gene works and I’m still a little confused by it. Can someone explain it to me please. If my mother’s dad (my grandfather) is a twin that means the gene would not run in the family bc it’s from a mans side right ? Or am I reading this wrong

When they talk about genetics relating to twins coming from the mother’s side, they just mean you and your family, not your partner and his family. Your mother could’ve inherited genes that make her (and you) more likely to have twins. But that is only the case if your grandfather was a fraternal (di/di) twin. If it’s just that one set of twins in your family though, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Even in a family with lots of twins, not everyone will have them. That’s why people often say it skips a generation or two, because it’s not all that common or likely.

If your mom or grandma had twins or were a twin, you are more likely to have twins. 
If your husband has twins on his family side it won’t give you a higher chance of having twins .

Also, not necessarily a guarantee even if you have the gene, I have twins all over both sides of my family, but so far none of my cousins have had any

Twins can also be completely random. My friend had 2 girls and then when she had her 3rd pregnancy she had twin girls, twins don’t run in their family at all
