As an American, English makes ZERO sense lol. Even if you were to spell it it Dashel it could be mispronounced as Da-Shell lol. This is one of those names where you’ll just probably have to pronounce it for/correct people often, no matter the spelling. So I would just go with the spelling you love.

Thank you for your votes and comments, everyone! So this is the way the name is typically pronounced in the US, but my husband and I were concerned that the traditional spelling of the name would be mispronounced often. So now I’m wondering if spelling it Dashel or Dashiel would be better

I only know because I know a Dashiell lol. So I'd say "Dash-ul." I've never heard anyone call him "Dash-eel," honestly.
