Does breastfeeding help your uterus shrink?!

Question

Newly PP and was told that while BF your uterus will have contractions and be shrinking down in size?!
Is this something any momma has heard? If so how long does this take usually?
How many calories are burned with BF?
I have felt pretty uncomfortable contractions while BF but I thought it was gas or maybe the way I was sitting since I'm new to all of this!

Breast feeding can totally help. I was 155 lbs when I got pregnant. I got up to 190ish during pregnancy, then with breast feeding I got down to 138. I’ve heard losing the baby weight happens more easily with the first baby though. And Some of that weight has come back since I stopped breast feeding.

With my first, no one told me this and it felt like I was going to crap my pants every time I breastfed for the first couple days. 
It can get more painful with each birth. With my third, it would feel like I was in labor again while breastfeeding.

Yes you will have contraction like cramps for a little while. They will slowly fade as your uterus shrinks. It’s extremely normal.

Yes definitely!!  The cramping can be pretty rough the first week or so when you nurse, something I wish people would have warned me about just as a heads up.

Yeah there was painful cramps breastfeeding or not. I’ve done both. But I lost nothing with breastfeeding. So the calories burned is just not a thing for me
