help?? stray cat?

hey ladies there’s a cat that lives down here at my grandmas. he was originally someone who lived a few houses down but they abandoned him. my grandma feeds him sometimes so he hangs out around here but he’s scared of people. he’s still fairly young around a year or two.i feel so bad for him living outside alone he’s probably infested with fleas or tics bc she lives DEEP in the country. i would call the shelter to get him but i’m afraid they’ll kill him or probably won’t even come out here bc it’s so far. I wouldn’t mind taking him in bc i’m moving in an apartment on 8/18 the only problem is he’s really shy and seems to be afraid of people. he seemed like he was warming up to me yesterday kinda walking close though. do you guys know anyone I could call like a specific company to ensure his safety??
