Water softener?

Anyone use a water softener in their home? My mom recently found some articles saying that softened water isn’t safe for pregnancy. That it can lead to high blood pressure, swelling, and preeclampsia. I have been drinking softener water this whole pregnancy. Has anyone else heard of this or have any experience with this?

The way the water is softened is by adding salt to it so I guess I could see how that could be an issue if you have high blood pressure but I’m not sure.. we have a water softener and I love it.. I can feel the difference in my hair and skin with it but like I said idk about drinking it and I also have an RO system so not sure if it removes the salt out first but also I actually have super low blood pressure like my midwives have recommended I eat more salt 🙊😆 so I’m probably not a good example but no preclampsia for me but I do still get swollen feet and hands when I get to hot/dehydrated 🤷‍♀️ but I was also like that prepregnancy and now it’s just worse

Never heard of it. We have a water softener. It’s safe.

I begged my husband to purchase the water softener, I could not imagine why it would cause those things. It’s eliminating the hard elements in your water that dry out your skin and things I don’t want to ingest. We ultimately didn’t purchase it because it was too much money but I’m sure it’s safer than city water
