You think it’s a good idea to get a kitten with a two year old?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with how kittens/two year olds usually get along. My daughter loooves all animals, but I’m wondering if the kitten we are getting would make a good little friend for her or if it’s just not worth it…I don’t know. I’m already speaking with a breeder and I’m looking at the oriental shorthair breed. 😁

I wouldn't. A kitten is almost as much work as a human toddler. And since your kid is 2 they can't be responsible...you have to do all the work. I also wouldn't get a pet just to be a friend with your child. There just isn't a guarantee they'll be best buddies. Like hopefully they'd get along but they might not play together as much as you'd think.

I have kitten and hes nightmare qe cant wal without him bitting abd scratching our feet hands hes always into some kind of trouble etc 
Plus cats dont always like to much attention and your little  one wont know when to stop playing with the cat so the car could  or will act 
So if you do get older cat one that's very chill and good with kids etc

We got a kitten when my daughter was just over 2! They love each other and are best friends, the only issue we had was that we didn’t get the kitten fixed soon enough and he’d play fight with her and sometimes end up scratching her, but that was resolved once he got fixed.

I mean… I have 3 cats a dog and an 8 month old. All my animals love my son and he loves them so much! He’s always laying with them and laying on top of them and they just take it all in. He’s always cracking up when he sees them because he gets so excited. I love that my son gets to grow up with our animals & I love seeing how happy they make him ❤️

We got a kitten when my son was 1 and it was  easy! He was a little bit older and was already litter box trained so I 100% recommend an older kitten lol the cat is 2 now and he's my baby. He's so good with both of my kids. Idk if it's just his temperament or because he grew up with my kid/s but I don't regret him at all

Kittens are less work than puppies, but they’re still work and my last kitten was a total jerk, especially at nighttime. Not to mention a 2 year old can be too rough with young animals. I’d wait until my kid was older or adopt a young adult cat.

It honestly depends on your kid and your schedule. I have a cat, a 4 y/o, a 2 y/o with autism, and a 1 y/o. We bought a house in May. We'd been promising my 4 y/o for years that when we bought a house, we would get him a dog. We just got an 11 w/o Great Dane earlier this month and have had no issues. But I knew my kids and my own schedule well enough to know it wouldn't be a problem. 
My 4 y/o loves animals and almost always listens so I knew he would be just fine. My 2 y/o with autism has no interest in animals. Doesn't dislike them but has no interest so I knew he wouldn't have issues with the dog. And my 1 y/o loves our cat but has no interest in dogs since a family member's dog kept trying to lick him in the face. And they've all done great. 4 y/o is very respectful and gentle with the dog. Knows to use a stern voice when the dog is trying to play bite or jump on him. 2 y/o and 1 y/o pat the dog occasionally but otherwise have no interest in him. 
But I grew up with dogs and puppies all my life. Raising puppies is second hand nature to me. If I didn't have so much experience with dogs, I definitely would not have gotten him.

We have a kitten and a 2 year old and it’s been great. We got our kitten mid-June when she was 8-ish weeks old. Kitten and toddler have been great together. He uses her toys appropriately to play with her and she naps on him when he’s lounging on the couch sometimes. She’s rarely accidentally gotten too excited and scratched him, but she’s a baby so it barely scratches him, and he just tells her no. We do have 2 older cats he’s been around all his life so he was already aware of how to be gentle.
