Hair regrowth

I’ve had a bald spot since elementary school. Im 21 now. I’m not completely sure how I got it. My mother suspects something ate at my hair and it was transferred to me from someone else’s hair brush? Like a fungus? Not sure of the truth in that. I just really want this bald spot gone. It impedes me from wearing certain hairstyles, and it makes me self conscious. I’m always scared that it might be showing, especially at the beach, pool, etc. It doesn’t allow me to completely enjoy the moment because I’m too scared to be embarrassed. Anyway, has anyone here dealt with bald spots and had found a way to grow it back? Over the years my mother looked for oils (and aloe vera plant) to massage the spot with and nothing has worked.
