Almost 3 year old ALWAYS says “please”
Hi ladies I have a little boy he will be 3 in September.
He has a significant speech delay, he really just started talking when he was 2.5 and has been in speech since he was 21 months old so a little over a year. He is around a 24 month level.
We taught him to say “more (whatever he wants) please” and he picked it up pretty quickly. So now he says please after everything which was kind of cute at first but I’m pretty concerned because it doesn’t make sense most of the time
Like he will be like “look, dog please” or “hi mommy, please” “sister sleeping please” pretty much anything he says he adds please at the end.
His speech therapist is so happy that he’s putting words together and forming sentences because about 4 months ago he was non verbal, so the fact he’s speaking on sentences is great, but I am kind of like ehhh I wish the sentences made a little more sense.
She thinks it will “work itself out” but he seems to be increasing with the please and it’s been going on for over a month.
So ladies, in your experience, is this normal? Is this just because he learned a new word, will he eventually use it in the correct context?
We model it constantly but he’s not really totally getting it
