Lower blood pressure while pregnant….?

Did anyone have lower blood pressure than normal during your pregnancy? So my blood pressure has always been around 130/80ish but since being pregnant it’s down to like 110/60 and the other day it was down to 102/70… why is it lower than it normally is?

Former labor and delivery nurse here. Lower blood pressure during pregnancy is an expected finding due to hormones that are being released. They cause blood vessels to relax and expand and this is a good thing to accommodate your larger blood volume while pregnant and take some of the work off the heart. Also, high blood pressure would decrease the amount of blood able to make it to the baby (among other bad things).

Prepregnancy mine was always around 125/80 and now while pregnant it is around 102/62! They’d rather the lower end than the higher end!

Yes! I thought it was so weird, sometimes my top number would be under 100 even and it freaked me out but my midwife said it’s just on the lower end of normal and they prefer to see that than have it be on the high side. Basically, as long as it’s within normal range, it’s nothing at all to worry about.
