Breech baby anyone?

So I went in for my regular check up and I was just told the baby is breeched and I’m freaking out. I’m 35 weeks and 5 days and my doctor is suggesting to do the ECV procedure. I’ve watched for videos on YouTube and everything looks crazy. I’m super nervous the alternative is if the baby doesn’t turn I’ll need to do a c section. I’d prefer to do a vaginal delivery and just wondering if anyone has gone through this? Any exercise that helped them? Any help or advice is appreciated it.

I had my first son by c section! He was frank breech. I tried the spinning babies exercises, I was too scared to try the manual turning thing with him. 
I had a beautiful c section experience and my son is a happy and healthy 2.5 year old boy now! I’m having my 2nd c section with this baby august 6th! Not every c section is a horror story so try and remember that! ❤️

My first was breech. I was told that if the turning fails I may end up with a csection that day. Not to mention it's extremely painful and no guarantee of working. I chose the csection and honestly it was fantastic. My water ended up breaking early, I went to the hospital, and an hour later I had my baby in my arms. The recovery really wasn't bad either, just long. I never tried to force my baby to flip. I was too afraid of something going wrong. Basically, I just wanted to encourage you that if you do end up in a csection, that it doesn't have to be a bad experience! It's not near as scary as the thought of having one is. Good luck with whatever you decide! I hope it all works out the way you want! 💕

Idk i wouldn’t try the ECV. Too many risks and a huge possibility baby turns back. Heard it’s also painful. However def try exercises. Do lots of crawling and put pillow under your butt and lay down like you’re doing hip raises. It helped my baby turn.

Went through this with my second. A vaginal delivery is super important to me, even more so because I plan homebirths, so it really changes the entire game to consider a c-section. Of course, I’ll do what is best for me and baby, even to the extreme of a caesarean, but only if and when that becomes medically necessary and the lowest risk option. ECV does have some risks, but they are small. Rarely things go awry. C-section risks are much higher than ECV, they’re just so routine these days that most people don’t think much of it. I was not a good candidate for ECV for several reasons. I’d had a cephalic baby and vaginal birth previously, but that was all I had going for me. I had lower (but normal) fluid levels. My placenta was on the right, not posterior (which is best) and baby was facing into the placenta, not away from it. We tried once at 37+4. ALL the med students came to observe (with my consent) cause not many people elect to do one anymore. A tiny female doc worked at it for about 30 mins off and on while I held hubby’s hand and breathed through, it hurt but was definitely manageable, even when one of the Ned students assisted her. During one of the many breaks to check progress with ultrasound, baby tucked her head under my ribs and we got nowhere cause they could not grip her anymore. Doc suggested I get an epidural and keep trying, but I knew it was a no-go until baby came out from under those ribs. I chose to try another day. A nurse came in and told me Th (at 38w) the doc there was the BeST at ECV and if he couldn’t do it, no one could, so we scheduled to try again then. I went home perfectly fine and baby perfectly fine, just a little tender and developed some mild bruising by the next day. Went in at 38 wks and the whole thing was different. Doc (a large man, about 6’4”, basketball-gripping hands) checked position, asked if I wanted an epidural (I said I wanted to try without first), and he gripped that baby and started turning. It was super intense. I was breathing deeply and barely managing. When my husband looked me in the eye, tears immediately started streaming down my cheeks (I was not sobbing though). I told him not to look at me so I could be more in control. I’m not a touchy person, but I mentioned that I wanted another one of him to hold my hand on the other side of Tyne bed. A med student (who’d also been there the other day) jumped in and held my hand. I’ve never been more grateful for the touch of a stranger! It took about 10 mins and then he stopped to check. I was sure we had a long way to go, but he announced, “head’s down!” And I started bawling tears of joy and disbelief. Baby stayed put and was born vaginally at home as planned at 39+6. 🥰 Chiropractic can help (talk with them specifically about flipping a breech) and spinning babies, a cold pack at babies head and heat down low where you want the head, loud/heavy music up by the head and a light shining through your abdomen down low can encourage them too, but nothing, even the ECV, can make them go. For me, none of the other stuff worked (though I credit chiropractic with opening my pelvis so that she would and could stay once head down), but that ECV was so worth it! 100% would repeat if I have another breech at 37 weeks or after. Statistically, the odds of distressing baby or some complication is like 1/2 of a % (I haven’t looked it up in a while). Baby flipping us about 50/50, close to 60/40 if you’ve had a previous vagina delivery. Odds of baby staying once flipped are also around 50/50 (which is why a lot of ECV people choose to induce right after a successful turn). My advice would be to give it a try, but get the word on a doc who’s a pro at it (the younger ones tend not to be since they just haven’t seen them as much as the older docs used to) if at all possible and book with them, but try all the tricks in the meantime, especially chiropractic care all the way to the end, even once baby is turned. Ultimately, you have to decide what’s right for you.

I had an ecv, I guess I was a great candidate. Lots of amniotic fluid so the baby flipped in less than 5 minutes. I have heard of other people who they worked over 20 minutes but because there wasn’t enough fluid it just didn’t work. If you want the vaginally delivery, I would highly suggest you try the ecv. Worst case scenario is it doesn’t work and you have a c section anyway, but at least you would have tried.

My baby was transverse at 35 weeks & measuring a whole week ahead. I’m now 37 weeks & I have an ultrasound on Tuesday to check if he moved head down! If so, I get induced on the 12th if not I have to schedule a c-section 🥺
