So, I have a step daughter who is nearly eleven. My partner wants me to have parental responsibilities, aside from financially providing for them both, but I am really uncomfortable with this, as my stepdaughter has both of her biological parents (my partner), and her dad (who lives over an hour away). I think that I should have very little input. Her dad hates me, which i get, as he sees me as taking his child away from him, even though that’s not the case. I literally just don’t want to step on anyone’s toes as ultimately, my stepdaughter is simply not my daughter. I think discipline, decisions on schools etc, should come from the biological parents. Thoughts?
