What has worked for you to minimize the side effects of Met?

So am on Metformin for almost two weeks now, 500 mg ER tablet twice a day, but because my stomach symptoms are so bad, the doctor has me on one tablet at night for now but wants me to get back on two tablets (a.m & p.m) in a few more days. My horrible side effects went away as soon as I went down to one tablet st night. But I just literally slightly pooped myself (thankfully I work from home so I was able to immediately clean up).

Please, what has worked for you in minimizing the awful nausea/diarrhea? Last week I vomited several times before the doctor lowered the dose temporarily to one tablet.

I am starting my first IUI and am on Letrozole before doing my trigger shot.
