My interesting emergency c section

So my sweet rainbow baby finally made it earthside on August 4th. I was due on the 12th, but I had an induction scheduled for August 6th. On August 3rd I woke up having what I assumed were false contractions at around 7am. They were super mild, but when timed they were about 3 minutes apart. So I went ahead and called my doctor. She told me to go ahead and drive to the clinic so she could do a cervical exam. I got to the clinic and was only 1 cm dilated, but I was still having contractions which were pretty consistent although still not super painful. So she told me to go to our local target, walk for about an hour, and then if my contractions still hadn't stopped go to L&D. So my husband and I stopped for an early lunch, and then went and walked for about an hour and a half. After that my contractions were starting to get painful so we went ahead to L&D. They admitted us to triage at noon and watched my contractions. They checked my cervix again and I was at around a 2. So the nurse told me to go ahead and walk the halls and see if that didn't help me progress some. They checked me again after I had spent some time walking and I was a good 3 cm, at around 4pm. So the nurse called my doctor. My doctor said she'd come by and check me herself. At this point my contractions were starting to become painful enough I couldn't talk through them, but I still wasn't convinced I was in active labor. My doctor came by at 5pm, checked me, and I was almost a 4. So she went ahead and had me admitted. I got to a room and at 7pm she broke my water for me. I got the epidural around 9pm, and continued to labor throughout the night. Around 2 am, my little guys heart rate began to drop with each contraction. My nurse and doctor watched closely and began to try a few different methods to see if they could fix the issue. We tried just about everything but at 7:30 am he still was having trouble and there was nothing more we could do, so I was taken for an emergency c section. At exactly 8:15 my little guy was born. Apparently his heart rate trouble was caused by his cord. It had wrapped itself around his neck and was tugging on him with every contraction. He came out and was having a little trouble breathing. He had to be given oxygen, and spent about 2 hours in the nursery while I went back to my room to recover. It was kind of hard not being able to see him, but at around 10am I was finally able to hold him for the first time. He's doing so amazing now. He latched right away and nurses like a champ. He's so incredibly perfect and I'm so glad we were able to get him out safely. 💖
